Preview: 2016 Intermot motorcycle show

A bevy of new bikes expected to make public debuts, including the updated Honda CBR1000RR, KTM middleweight adventure range, and the Ducati 939 SuperSport

The motorcycle show season officially gets underway in Cologne, Germany today when Intermot 2016 opens its doors – to press at first followed by the public from October 5-9.

Around 1000 companies will show their wares in 2016, but it's the new motorcycle offerings which will steal the limelight, and the list of likely Intermot debuts is extensive:

•    Honda CBR1000RR – major update for the venerable sportsbike
•    Kawasaki Ninja R2 – 800cc supercharged roadbike
•    Yamaha YZF-R6 – another one with the 'major update' moniker
•    New-generation KTM Duke nakedbike series
•    New KTM middleweight adventure range
•    Suzuki GSX-250R (Gixxer 250)
•    BMW G 310 GS
•    BMW cruiser
•    Ducati 939 SuperSport
•    Updated Ducati Monster 821
•    Updated Kawaski ER-6n

There will also be a major focus on electric-powered two-wheelers, and custom bikes will also receive their fair share of attention -- across a a number of motorcycle categories.
