Pope Francis’ Vatican garage is set to lose one of its residents, with news that he’s selling the Dyna Super Glide that was given to him by Harley-Davidson in 2013.
After it’s sold at auction on February 6, the funds will be used raise money for a hostel and soup kitchen that serves Rome’s homeless.
The Harley-Davidson Motor Company presented two of its motorcycles and a jacket to Pope Francis in June, when Rome hosted the 110th anniversary celebration of the American motorcycle. On June 16 the Pope blessed about 800 bikers and their rides in St. Peter’s Square.
The Dyna has the Pope’s signature, and is expected to fetch about $22,000 at auction. It will be sold as part of Bonhams' Les Grandes Marques du Monde sale at the Grand Palais in Paris. For more information, visit www.bonhams.com/press_release/15634.
