Police to use Spyder bait
American law enforcement agencies are about to receive 10 Spyder three-wheelers to help maintain the peace
The three-wheeled Can-An Spyder RT is turning into a crime fighter, with the American state of West Virginia about to receive 10 of the three-wheelers, favouring the machine over a fleet of Harley-Davidsons.
The Governor's Highway Safety Program plans to provide the Spyders to law enforcement agencies throughout the state using money from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
In one county, the Spyder will come equipped with waterproof radar and camera unit, with a special focus on speeding and DUI checkpoints.
"There are a lot of venues… that are difficult to access by car,” said a county spokesman. “It'll be something we can use for special events -- it'll come in good use for us.”
