Polaris Slingshot to be launched on July 27

The end is in sight! The final drip feed for the new ‘reverse trike’ from the American company has been released ahead of the official unveil on July 27

Polaris has released the fourth teaser video teaser for its upcoming reverse trike, the Slingshot, and just like the first three we’ve only managed to join a few dots together.

Last time we told you the Slingshot is belt driven, and that at the front it has a pair of car-like tyres.

This time the 12-second video has told us that it has twin headlights inside a small grille, a windscreen about 400mm tall, a middle LCD console flanked by buttons and switches, and twin white-faced gauges – tacho and speedo.

The big unknown is still the engine, but a chorus of commentators is leaning towards a 2.4-litre GM Ecotec donk. Power figures of 180hp and 233N are being quoted, but we do know the redline is about 6500rpm (video two…) – well below what a motorcycle performance unit stretches its legs to.

Full details will be available on July 27.

We’ve been in contact with the local arm of Polaris, and we should know soon enough whether the Slingshot will be coming to Australia.
