Polaris plans to launch an electric bike under the banner of its remaining motorcycle marque, Indian, in 4-5 years according a report on Reuters.
Polaris, which recently announced it was closing down its Victory brand, has already dabbled in the electric space with the Victory Empulse TT (pictured), but now it will be directing those resources towards Indian.

The company's new electric motorcycle is expected to cover 190-230km on a single charge if "ridden aggressively", compared with 120km for the Empulse TT.
"The characteristics of the (new) powertrain are going to be more applicable to be able to ride a bike in pleasure and twisties, and kind of how you would use pleasure bikes today," Steve Menneto, president of its motorcycles division, was quoted as telling Reuters.
Polaris would also like expand the product line of the Indian brand to include small capacity bikes, Menneto said.
Menneto expects the company's revenue from its motorcycle business to grow to $1US billion in the next five years, from $US708.5 million in 2016.
Polaris' electric timetable for the Indian is about the same as Harley-Davidson's, with the two storied brands set to go head to head to attract younger customers – but with successful electric start-ups like Zero not wanting to lose any ground either.
Menneto said the Indian electric bike "would be priced competitively".
