Polaris Industries Inc. has secured a minority investment in Brammo, one of three big electric motorcycle manufacturers in America alongside Mission and Zero.
The value of the transaction has not been announced, but presumably Victory is making the investment with an eye toward leveraging some of Brammo’s electric drivetrain technology for its existing range of powersports products, including snowmobiles, ATVs and motorcycles (Victory).
“We are excited to advance our electric vehicle capability by establishing Polaris as a business partner and part owner of Brammo, one of the most innovative and aggressive companies we have found in the electric motorcycle space,” said Scott Wine, Polaris CEO.
“Our companies share a passion for performance, and we look forward to exploiting the numerous opportunities created by pairing Brammo’s industry-leading electric powertrain technology with Polaris’ vast array of market-leading powersports products. This is a small, but important, investment for Polaris in an electric vehicle market that we feel is poised for significant growth.”
Brammo began developing EV technology for motorcycles in 2002, and it now plans to expand its range to include high-performance sport motorcycles with a single-charge range of 160km. It also hopes to introduce a family of off-road and dual-sport motorcycles.
In April, Polaris acquired Global Electric Motorcars LLC from Chrysler Corp, and also bought Indian Motorcycle earlier this year. Click here to read all about those buys.
