Polaris '05 models and prices

Polaris, the world's largest manufacturer of ATVs, has released details of its 05 range and the retail pricing. There are 21 models in a line-up that encompasses everything from 50cc junior ATVs to the new Troy Lee 500 Predator and the heavy-duty 6x6 Ran

Polaris put a new transmission in the smallest Predators, this one with a reverse gear, and at the top of the Sportsman range there's now a fuel injected, 800cc model in the familiar V-twin configuration. This 800 EFI model has all-wheel drive, larger shocks than the 700cc Sportsman and 22 percent more suspension travel. It also has what Polaris says is the highest ground clearance (28.6cm); dual exhausts; a softer seat with knee bolsters for more comfort; a wider stance; and a redesigned front drive shaft to eliminate vibration on hardpack trails.

Model by model, here are more improvements:
The Phoenix 200 is a new model, powered by a 200cc four-stroke engine and driving through the world's best selling auto. Electric-start is part of the package. So are full floorboards, skid protection and shaft drive.

The Predator 500 gets a reverse gear for better manoeuvrability, a redesigned seat, a taller steering post and revised ergos. The new Troy Lee Predator 500 gets wild TL graphics, an upgrade to aluminium shocks, Maxxis radial tyres front and rear and close ratio gearing.

The Sportsman 700 EFI twin has a new body made of a tough composite material that Polaris describes as “virtually indestructible.” The headlights are brighter, fuel economy is said to have been improved and suspension travel has been increased on both the 600 and 700 Sportsman.
