Pitt hails e-CABS

Honda CBRs now out in ABS

He's on the Honda payroll so we have to allow for a little bit of vitriol to sneak into the equation, but world supersport champion Andrew Pitt has endorsed the new electronically-combined ABS (e-CABS) system on the 2009 model CBR-RR sportsbikes.

Unique in the sportsbike genre, e-CABS is designed to allow riders to stop quickly and securely, regardless of the conditions. Pitt is an unabashed fan.

"Whereas some of the competition has introduced traction control and ways to control power delivery to make it safer, Honda has approached it in a different way and is addressing real-world emergency situations," Pitt said. "I was that impressed; I am going to speak to the team (Ten Kate Honda) and request that we get it up and running in preparation for the wet."

Both e-CABS bikes will be on display in the AMCN Superbike Expo at this weekend's opening round of the Superbike World Championship at Phillip Island.

Available now in dealers nationally, e-CABS cost $16,990 (CBR600RR) and $20,490 (CBR1000RR), a $1000 premium over the standard models.
