Phillips in world enduro control

Four rounds remain, with the Tasmanian in the driver's seat to claim the first ever EnduroGP title, which is the best of the best across all three world championship classes

Twenty-three-year-old Tasmanian Matthew Phillips currently holds a 28pt lead in the 2016 Enduro World Championship blue-chip EnduroGP class, the outright classification across all capacity classes.

Aboard his French-made Sherco 300SEF-R, Phillips has finished on the podium in seven of the 12 EnduroGP rounds for three wins, and with four rounds remaining he's on 181pts. Finland's Eero Remes (TM) is in second on 153pts, followed by Steve Holcombe (Beta, 148), Matthias Bellino (Husqvarna, 146) and Nathan Watson (KTM, 142).

Phillips also leads the E2 title by 33pts from Bellino. Phillips won the 2014 E3 title on a KTM.

Rounds 13 and 14 of the 201 Enduro World Championship will be held in Italy on July 16-17.
