Phillips and Gardiner on enduro podiums

Australia's reigning world junior enduro champion has made a great start to his ‘senior' career, while Gardiner was amongst it in the women's class

AustraliaN pair Matthew Phillips (KTM) and Jessica Gardiner (Sherco) have produced stellar performances in round one of the 2014 Enduro World Championship in Solsana, Catalunya on April 5-6.

FULL RESULTS HERE

Phillips scored 3-2 results in the big-bore E3 class across the weekend, and he now sits second in the championship behind fellow KTM rider Ivan Cervantes who swept both races.

Phillips was the world junior enduro champion in 2013, and has now stepped up to the senior ranks – and he’ll also be making cameos locally during the season.

The other major classes are being led by Christophe Nambotin (KTM, E1) and Antoine Meo (KTM, E2).

In the women’s class, Gardiner was third in both rounds, while her fellow Aussie Jemma Wilson (Yamaha) went 7-4. The races were dominated by Spanish phenomenon Laia Sanz (Honda).
