Peter Doyle has been appointed interim CEO of Motorcycling Australia (MA) following the peak racing organisation parting ways with former head David Cottee for "personal reasons". The change will take effect immediately.
Doyle has been accountable for MA’s day-to-day operations, sport development, event management and technical support over the last two years. Only two months ago his title was changed to 'Sporting Director'.
Before arriving at MA, Doyle forged an enviable reputation as a highly regarded manager of road racing teams in Europe, America and Australia, with riders such as Rob Phillis, Mat Mladin, Aaron Slight, Scott Russell and Ben Spies falling under his wing.
Since long-time CEO David White left MA in early 2014, a number of people have filled the top seat, with Cottee the last in line when he was hired in mid-December 2015.
MA now has to start a process of appointing a new CEO, and it's unclear whether Doyle will now declare his candidacy for the top job on a permanent basis.
