Peter Doyle appointed as MA CEO

Motorcycling Australia (MA), the peak body for motorcycle racing in the country, has appointed of Peter Doyle as Chief Executive Officer.

Doyle’s motorcycling career spans more than four decades. From early roles in mechanics he developed a career in motorsport management, and has led moto teams to victory around the world including 14 years coaching and managing teams and riders in the USA.

Doyle returned to Australia in 2014 and took up the role of Technical Director at MA, and he then became interim CEO in April this year.

Interim MA President Peter Goddard said he and the MA Board were very pleased to formalise Doyle's position at the head of the organisation.

Doyle said that MA had made some good progress over recent months but plenty remained to be accomplished.

“There have been a lot of changes – to the Board, staff and our relationship with the State bodies – all of which were long overdue,” said Doyle. “Motorcycling in this country has some way to go before we reach the levels of professionalism that other sports enjoy, but I am confident that we are on the path now to achieve that goal.

 “I would like to thank the industry for their support in this decision and for their patience in recent months. The great thing is that we are all extremely passionate, so we are all striving for the same goal – to promote the sport we love.”

Mr Doyle said the focus of the next few months would be around insurance, governance and communication.

“I want to thank the Board, and particularly the members, who have been so forthcoming with their feedback and time. We are listening and working toward meeting the goals they want for us and for the sport.”
