Parkes injures shoulder in UK crash

To miss Assen WSBK round

Kawasaki factory rider Broc Parkes will miss this weekend's round four of the Superbike World Championship at Assen after crashing and injuring his shoulder during testing at Snetterton (UK) earlier this week.

Parkes will now have surgery on his injured shoulder, with Stuart Easton to deputise for the Australian alongside Japan's Makota Tamada.

The injury is a real blow for Parkes, who was just starting to hit some top form on the ZX-10R after a hapless start to the year. Parkes scored his first top 10 finish in the last round at Valencia.

Easton, 24, is the team's test rider, so he should be able to hit the ground running in the opening practice session on Friday morning.

At this stage, it's unclear whether Parkes will have to sit out more than one round.
