Ducati has announced the Australian pricing structure of its all-new Panigale V4 range which is currently being launched to the world’s media at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Valencia, Spain.
The three-tiered range is priced from $28,990 (plus on-road costs) for the base-model Panigale V4 through to more than double that for range-topping Panigale V4 Speciale which carries at recommended retail price of $59,990. The Panigale V4 S sits in the middle of the two and has a $37,490 (plus on-road costs) price tag.
The Superbike made its premier at last year’s EICMA Motorcycle Show in Milan and marks a new era for 2018, replacing the 1299 Panigale V-Twin as the company’s flagship machine. Ducati will continue to race the V-twin in the World Superbike Championship this season however, with the 1103cc 90-degree V4 engine not falling within the series’ rulebook which limits four cylinder machines to 1000cc.
The firm is expected to unveil a homologation special later this year which it will campaign in the 2019 Superbike World Championship.
2018 Panigale V4 – $28,990 (plus on-road costs)
The base model Panigale is still a very well-equipped piece of kit. As well as the latest-generation of Ducati’s suite of electronics (which includes cornering ABS and traction control, the firm’s slide control, wheelie control, launch control, three switchable engine modes and a two-directional quickshifter), the bike boasts a five-inch full colour TFT dash, Brembo stoppers, a fully adjustable Showa and Sachs suspension package and a grey frame with black wheels.
2018 Panigale V4 S — $37,490 (plus on-road costs)
The S-model Panigale V4 gets the same electronics package as the base-model with the $8500 premium buying you top-shelf semi-active Öhlins suspenders at both ends as well as an Öhlins starring damper. Add to this forged aluminium wheels, a lighter Lithium-ion battery and a cast magnesium alloy front subframe.
2018 Panigale V4 Speciale — $59,990 (plus on-road costs)
The range-topping Speciale boasts the same electronics and semi-active suspension package as the S-model, but gets a racing titanium Akrapovic exhaust system, a racing screen, fuel cap, articulated levers, adjustable pegs and an Alcantra seat. There’s Ducati’s GPS-equipped data analyser, the front and rear guards, heel guards and swingarm cover are all carbon fibre and both the (individually numbered) top yoke and mirror replacement plugs are machined from solid. As well as the Speciale colour scheme, there’s a brake lever guard, dedicated grips, a number-plate holder removal kit and a bike cover.
