Oxley limits back under review

Petition results in speed zone changes put on hold – for now
A petition launched against the proposed lowering of speed limits on New South Wales' Oxley Highway has appeared to reap rewards, following reports that speed limit changes to at least some sections of the 165km stretch between Walcha and Wauchope is back under review.
The zone changes were a result of the New South Wales Government's Centre for Road Safety 2015 report, Route Safety Review, which claimed the stretch of road had a casualty crash rate of more than double that other roads in the state.
While Bikesales understands some speed zone changes have already been implemented, the section under review is believed to be the 53km stretch containing the Oxley's much-loved 300 corners which was set to cop a 30km/h reduction from the original 100km/h zone down to 70km/h. An announcement on whether the changes will go ahead or not is expected before the end of the year.
Proposed changes to posted speed limits across the 165km stretch range from between 10km/h to 30km/h lower than the previous or current speed zones.

The petition was launched by Wauchope local Ken Healy, who rides the Oxley Highway every Sunday. The petition has so far attracted almost 6000 signatures.
