An overhauled Ducati Monster has been added to the Italian firm’s 2021 lineup, with a bigger engine and a new lightweight aluminium frame headlining the upgrades.
The original Monster was introduced in 1993, and has proved to be a revelation for the Borgo Panigale crew. It is the firm’s bestselling model with over 350,000 units produced since its debut.

For 2021, Ducati has given the Monster a boost in capacity, power, and torque (thanks in part to Euro5 emissions regulations). Powered by a 937cc Testastretta twin-cylinder engine, the Monster punches out 111hp at 9250rpm and 95Nm at 6500rpm. Complementing the updated engine is a new gearbox, as well as Ducati’s quickshift system fitted as standard.
Replacing the previous trellis frame is a new lightweight aluminium frame based on the Panigale V4. The new Monster chassis is 4.5kg lighter than the previous version, helping to achieve a total dry weight of just 166kg.
The 2021 Monster has also been tailored for ease-of-use with a relatively-low 820mm seat height, narrow profile, improved manoeuvrability at low speeds, and a more-upright riding position.
In the technological department, the 2021 Ducati Monster comes standard with cornering ABS, traction control, wheelie control, launch control, three riding modes and a 4.3-inch colour TFT screen.
And continuing the Monster’s traditional custom appeal, a whole range of sticker kits, performance accessories and optional extras are available when purchasing the bike.
The 2021 Ducati Monster is available in Red/Dark Stealth with black wheels, and Aviator Grey with GP Red wheels. There is also a ‘Plus’ version which adds an aerodynamic windshield and passenger seat cover as standard.
With pricing starting at $18,200 (ride away), the 2021 Ducati Monster is expected to arrive on Australian and New Zealand shores in June 2021. Head to ducati.com.au for more information.
