On Any Sunday is a classic, seminal movie, as it managed to weave into the narrative the shared passion and sense of freedom for professional motorcycle riders and amateur alike. The genius of the film-maker Bruce Brown was reflected in a 1972 Academy Award nomination.
Riders to feature in the movie included US road racing champion Mert Lawwill, motocross legend Roger De Coster, six-time Baja winner Malcolm Smith, and movie star/petrolhead Steve McQueen.
There have been follow-ups to the original movie – including On Any Sunday II (1981) and On Any Sunday: Revisited (2000) -- and now there’s another on the way: On Any Sunday: The Next Chapter.
This time, Bruce’s son, filmmaker Dana Brown follows in his father’s tracks for a modern take on the original film, capturing the people who ride motorcycles into all terrains and what the journey means to them.
Riders to feature in the new flick include Aussie daredevil Robbie Maddison, Marc Márquez, Ashley Fiolek, Travis Pastrana, Kenny Roberts, Dani Pedrosa and James Stewart -- and keep an eye out for Scott Caan, Mickey Rourke and Bo Derek.
“The heart, soul and passion has not changed, but the level of performance and the technology to convey that certainly has,” said Dana. “Seeing it all come full circle is an incredibly rewarding experience. It's shaping up to be one of the strongest films I’ve ever done and I am excited to
share a glimpse of the film now.”
On Any Sunday: The Next Chapter will be released in the second half of 2014. For more information, visit www.OnAnySundayFilm.com.
