On Any Sunday lobs in Australia

The fourth instalment of the seminal movie will be shown during the TILT action festival from November 29-30 across major cities and regional areas

The long-awaited On Any Sunday: The Next Chapter, which features riders like Aussie daredevil Robbie Maddison, Marc Márquez, Ashley Fiolek, Travis Pastrana, Kenny Roberts, Dani Pedrosa and James Stewart – with cameos from Bo Derek and Mickey Rourke -- will debut in Australia this weekend (November 29-30) during the action sport focussed TILT festival.

The On Any Sunday legend began in 1971 with a beautifully woven narrative about the shared passion and sense of freedom for professional motorcycle riders and amateur alike. The genius of the film-maker Bruce Brown was reflected in a 1972 Academy Award nomination.

Riders to feature in the movie included US road racing champion Mert Lawwill, motocross legend Roger De Coster, six-time Baja winner Malcolm Smith, and movie star/petrolhead Steve McQueen.

There have been follow-ups to the original movie – including On Any Sunday II (1981) and On Any Sunday: Revisited (2000).

This time, Bruce’s son, filmmaker Dana Brown follows in his father’s tracks for a modern take on the original film, capturing the people who ride motorcycles into all terrains and what the journey means to them.

“The heart, soul and passion has not changed, but the level of performance and the technology to convey that certainly has,” said Dana. “Seeing it all come full circle is an incredibly rewarding experience. It's shaping up to be one of the strongest films I’ve ever done and I am excited to
share a glimpse of the film now.”

Early reviews after the film’s release in American have been positive, with the common thread that the film remains true to the original, even if professional and amateur riders aren’t quite as intertwined as they once were – it’s certainly a different world we live in.

On Any Sunday: The Next Chapter will be shown alongside the Crusty Demons 20th anniversary flick during its run at the TILT festival.
