Norton used its home NEC Motorcycle Live show in Birmingham in the UK to unveil its long-awaited 1200cc Superbike recently.
Available in two guises, V4 SS or V4 RR, both are powered by a Euro4-compliant 1200cc V4 engine capable of a claimed 200hp (149kW), which is mounted in a hand-crafted aluminium chassis.
Both versions employ a six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit which actuates the swathe of electronics which adorn them, including traction, launch, anti-wheelie and cruise control as well as adjustable engine braking, multiple ride modes and a bi-directional quickshifter.
The fairings are constructed entirely from carbon-fibre and while the V4 RR retains the all-black carbon look, the up-spec SS gains a chrome finish.
The RR tips the scales at 179kg (dry) while the lightweight exhaust and carbon-fibre wheels of the SS results in a weight reduction of around 10kg over the ‘standard’ model.
Norton has announced the price of the RR at £28,000 ($A47,285) and the SS at a hefty £44,000 ($A74,310), though with only 200 units of the latter planned for production, all have already been spoken for.
