While American V-twin cruiser manufacturer Victory Motorcycles is set to officially raise the curtain on its 2013 line-up of models on July 30, the company recently uploaded a 'teaser' video clip for a new model to YouTube.
As is the accepted norm these days for 'drip-feed' marketing, the clip essentially reveals very little in terms of hard facts, with what little footage there is of the bike being restricted to tight detail shots and a heavily-blurred image of man and machine rolling off into the distance. However, we do at least know the newcomer's name -- the 2013 Victory Boardwalk.
Once you've sat through the usual painful cruiser cliches -- the middle-aged office worker escaping his corporate cage for the call of the open road, etc etc -- we actually get a glimpse of the new motorcycle itself (just pay attention, and don't blink). The bike appears to be powered by a blacked-out version of Victory's 'Freedom' V-twin (the 106ci/1731cc V-twin found throughout the Victory range), while it features a raised centreline ridge running down its rear guard and tank -- a stying cue also found in several other Victory models. Instrumentation is restricted to a clock for the speedo and the bike appears to be set up for two-up riding.
What else do we know? Not much. Chances are we're essentially looking at a styling exercise of what's already gone before it -- a ploy that both Victory and indeed Harley-Davidson have employed to great effect -- but as for hard facts, figures and details, we'll just have wait until the wraps come off the Boardwalk (and indeed the rest of the Victory range) on July 30. Until then, check out the teaser for yourself...
