Fans of the Vespa Primavera 150 now have a couple of very different alternatives to choose from: the Vespa Primavera Sean Wotherspoon and (Vespa Primavera) RED. Yes, those parentheses are correct – bear with us here…
Both these limited-edition variants are based on the Vespa Primavera 150, with 154cc, three-valve, air-cooled, four-stroke engine, but both sport very distinctive and contrasting colours schemes.
First unveiled at the EICMA motorcycle expo in Milan, Italy, in 2019, the Vespa Primavera Sean Wotherspoon is said to represent a "partnership between one of the most creative and influential designers and the brand symbolic of Italian style".
Vespa describes Wotherspoon as a rising star of youth fashion in the USA, and in the Vespa Primavera 150 he has employed his "kaleidoscopic mix and match approach rooted in the '80s and '90s".
For those who prefer their scooter's paint to be a little more uniform, but no less bold, the (Vespa Primavera) RED is the metal embodiment of a collaboration between the Italian manufacturer and the global charity (RED).
Founded by rock legend Bono and American activist Bobby Shriver in 2006, (RED) partners with major brands around the world to raise funds for the fight against HIV/AIDS in Africa.
So far the organisation has raised US$600 million for the cause, and A$100 will be contributed to the charity from the sale of each (Vespa Primavera) RED in Australia.
