New toys from Triumph

Motorcycle media in the UK have exposed two new machines being developed by Triumph: a 1600cc twin-cylinder cruiser and a naked variant of the 675 Daytona triple (pictured)

In regard to the latter, a Triumph spokesperson confirmed to UK Motorcycle News, "It's an exciting new bike that's related to both the Speed Triple and Daytona 675 and you will see it later this year."

Meanwhile the big vertical twin has been under development for some time and reports say it is currently being tested in the USA -- likely to be the machine's prime market. American sales for the Hinckley-based brand topped 10,000 in 2006.

Mark Kennedy, Chief Executive Officer of Triumph Motorcycles America, said of the sales figures, "Now we're all going to focus on breaking Triumphs all-time US sales record of 28,500 units -- which was set in 1967 -- within the next five years."
