New Suzuki Gixxer

The famous Suzuki sportsbike moniker has now been officially recognised but in the form of a 155cc air-cooled machine which has been released in India

Suzuki India has unveiled a new Gixxer. And it’s not an extension of the famous sportsbike nickname either – it’s an official title which the manufacturer has given to its brand new 155cc commuter, which is powered by a 155cc, SOHC, air-cooled engine, and fed by a carburetor.

Suzuki has high hopes for the 17-inch wheeled Gixxer in an already saturated Indian motorcycle and scooter market, and claims it has the best fuel economy in class – as well as offering “exceptional riding perfrmamce.” Whether it falls under Suzuki’s ‘Own the Track’ advertising tagline is another thing altogether...

Bollywood actors Salman Khan and Parineeti Chopra were on hand to endorse the Gixxer, as well as the new Let'S' scooter. Suzuki currently commands 16 per cent market share in the Indian scooter market, but just one per cent of motorcycle sales.

Don’t expect to see the Gixxer in Australia anytime soon.
