Pirelli has announced that a new commuter-cum-sportstouring tyre for bikes up to 300cc is now available in the Aussie marketplace. Dubbed the Pirelli Angel CiTy, it's the first tyre to roll out of the firm's Indonesian factory and it takes its inspiration (and moniker) from the brand's Angel GT sports-touring rubber.
Designed to achieve a similar sturdiness, durability, wet grip and dry-weather performance as the GT – which is suited to larger-capacity and heavier sportstouring machines – the newly announced tyre is aimed specifically at the rapidly growing sub-300cc market both in Australia and overseas.
Pirelli says it will offer good durability all year round, with or without a pillion and in any weather conditions. The tread pattern is said to guarantee optimum wear while offering good water dispersal and a pattern which has specific and important differences between the front and rear tyres, regardless of their similar – or sometimes same – sizes.
The compound is said to have been chosen because of its ability to reach working temperature quickly in all conditions, while Pirelli says the construction is a balance between absorption, stability and durability.
Pirelli's new Angel CiTy is available in six 17-inch front sizes: 70/90, 80/90, 80/100, 90/80, 100/80 and 110/70-17, as well as eight 17-inch rear-specific sizes: 80/90, 90/80, 100/80, 100/90, 120/70, 130/70, 140/70 and 150/60-17.
