Harley-Davidson says its new Innovator Waterproof Functional Jacket will help you to stay cool on warmer days, thanks to its new Triple Vent System – an arrangement that employs three zippered vents on each side of the jacket that allow the wearer to customise the amount of airflow to suit the prevailing conditions.
The Triple Vent System is available on a number of other Harley-Davidson jackets and was developed under the company’s Project Rushmore banner – a recent custom-driven product development push that also led to the birth of the 2014-spec Touring models (click here for that story). According to Harley-Davidson, the Triple Vent System offers unprecedented riding comfort over a wide temperature range. “The airflow through each vent is unaffected by passengers or backrests, while stay-open snap tabs enable extra-wide vent openings for even greater airflow while riding,” states an official Harley-Davidson press release.
“For optimal breathability while idling in traffic, the three vents are tiered, with the leading vent located the lowest and each successive vent extending higher onto the sides of the jacket, allowing natural upward air movement to further cool the rider,” the release continues.
The Triple Vent System has been introduced on three men’s jackets (the Innovator pictured, plus the Beginnings and Evolution) and one women’s jacket (the Eclipse), with more models to be introduced in the near future.
Harley-Davidson says the Innovator is made from waterproof 600-denier polyester. In addition to the Triple Vent System, the jacket features waterproof leather accents plus Cordura stretch panels on the elbows, along with body armour at the elbows and shoulders. 3M Scotchlite reflective material keeps the wearer safe after dark.
The Innovator jacket is available in sizes S to 5XL and it retails from $491.78. See your nearest Harley-Davidson dealership for more information.
