The Australian Riders’ Division of Motorcycling Australia is set to launch a brand new advanced on-road training program called RIDE©RAFT.
The program is aimed at moving advanced rider training from the range and track onto the roads, where safe road riding strategies and skills are of greater importance than machine handling or track skills.
The RIDE©RAFT program comprises three levels of attainment -- bronze, silver and gold, and is promoted as being the most comprehensive and challenging available to the Australian public.
Chief coach and manager of the Australian Riders’ Division Rob Smith, said: “There are no ‘silver bullets’ or short cuts in rider development; real improvement takes time and commitment. No-one learns to ride well in one day on a range or a track.
“This is an aspirational program, like getting a degree. We are confident that at its highest level of gold, the program will represent the highest civilian riding standard available.
“The course is not easy and riders should be prepared to challenge themselves mentally to understand the principles and absorb the systems in detail.”
Coaching sessions, only available in Melbourne at this stage, are limited to a maximum of two riders to one coach with sessions available in two-hour, half day or full day blocks. Prices start at $90 for a two-hour session.
To find out more about the program or to make a booking contact Smith, tel (03) 9684 0500 or visit the Australian Riders’ Division website www.ard.org.au. Those interested in becoming an accredited coach should also register their interest.
