Chinese marque CFMoto is set to expand its range with a new middleweight naked bike. First spied in prototype form (pictured) around a year ago, the model is powered by a 650cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin powerplant - representing a significant step up from the marque's largest existing motorcycle, the 250cc V5. The rest of the current CFMoto range comprises small-capacity scooters and 500/600cc ATVs.
Although hard details of the new model - including its name - are sketchy, it is thought to produce around 68hp and weigh around 216kg, with the engine housed in a tubular steel cradle. The bike's suspension package comprises a 41mm front fork and a rear monoshock, with a twin wave disc front brake set-up.
If the prototype seems a little familiar, it could well be due to the fact it shares more than a passing resemblance with Kawasaki's ER-6n -- both bikes have a similar frame, a braced swingarm, a parallel-twin engine format, and a vertically-stacked headlight. Yep, just as the fledgling Japanese marques carved a toehold in the international motorcycle market by imitating the existing (predominantly British) models of the day, the Chinese appear to be following suit today.
Mojo Motorcycles, Australia's distributor for CFMoto, TGB, Sachs and Daelim, has confirmed the new model will be hitting our shores early next year. Pricing details will be confirmed closer to the model's release.
