Here's what the company claims for the bike: The FZ6's trademark feature is a YZF-R6-based 600cc liquid-cooled 16-valve DOHC four-cylinder engine, modified to produce maximum torque and horsepower at more accessible rpm levels. Placement of the FZ6's crankshaft axis close to its roll axis contributes to quick handling and light, positive steering, while new group fuel injection combines simplicity with excellent response and performance thanks to a powerful 32-bit processor and four jet bidirectional injectors.
A factor in the FZ6's pinpoint steering accuracy is the very light, strong Controlled Fill die cast aluminium frame, which is made from just two pieces. A five-point stressed member engine mounting boasts two crankcase mounts per side and one mount on the left side of the cylinder head for excellent strength and light weight.
Contributing to the FZ6's light feel and outstanding handling are light YZF-R6-type five-spoke wheels, sport-biased 43mm fork and linkage rear suspension, and 51 percent front wheel weight distribution.
For 2007, a refined fuel injection mapping produces smooth power and excellent response, while the Yamaha Air Induction System, along with a metal honeycomb type catalytic converter, further improves the FZ6's quality of emissions.
Plus new, four-piston monobloc brake calipers up front provide excellent braking power and feel while out back, a stylish new black swingarm complements the bike's Controlled Fill frame and adds to its light, precise feel. The finish quality of the frame, engine and swingarm back up the FZ6's outstanding style and performance, while a new front guard and alumite-finished outer fork tubes add to aesthetic quotient.
New easy to read analog tacho lends the instrument cluster a cool new look while the redesigned seat base and cover material feel soft but solid. The new seat combines with lower passenger pegs to make it easier for shorter legs to reach the ground. Passenger grab rails and bungee attachment points feature.
Pricing for the faired S model is $11,999 and the naked FZ6N model retails for $11,299 (both plus ORC).
