The long-standing and ever-popular Kawasaki KLR650 has been updated for 2022 with the addition of electronic fuel injection and digital instrumentation bringing it more in line with its competition.
Additionally, Kawasaki has introduced a second variant, the KLR650 Adventure, which comes with extra equipment fitted as standard for longer and more-rugged adventures.

Quick spin: Kawasaki KLR650 New Edition
First introduced in 1987, the KLR650 has long been a favourite amongst dual sport riders for its affordability, durability and ease-of-use. For 2022, the bike will move a little closer to its arguably more-capable competition, with EFI, ABS, digital instrumentation and LED lighting giving it a new layer of sophistication.
Also featured on the new KLR650 is a larger front brake disc (300mm), a larger 23L fuel tank, two-position adjustable wind shield, strong aluminium carrier mounts and increased generator output. There has also been minor updates to the chassis and suspension, while the reliable 652cc single cylinder engine remains relatively unchanged.
However the new additions have come at a cost, with a increase of 16kg from the previous model. The standard KLR650 weighs in at 210kg wet, while the Adventure model carries a 222kg wet weight.
The KLR650 Adventure adds locking panniers, fog lamps, frame sliders, and DC and USB sockets, making it ready for long-distance travel straight out of the crate.
Each variant has its own paint scheme, with the standard model coming in Pearl Sand Khaki, and the Adventure model featuring a Cypher Camo Gray colourway.
Both models are expected to arrive in the second half of 2021, and pricing is expected to be announced closer to the launch date.
