Sixty years after its initial release, Honda's 2019 C125 Super Cub has gone on sale in Australia with a retail price of $6099 (plus on-road costs).
It's the latest machine to be based around the Japanese brand's single-cylinder 124.9cc engine found in Honda's Grom and retro-style Monkey machines, though instead of the three-speed manual gearbox, the Cub's engine is mated to a four-speed semi-automatic transmission.
Looking every bit the bike which first rolled off Honda's production line back in 1958, the Super Cub has since sold over 100 million units globally, making it the world's most popular powered two-wheeler to date, though modern features on the 2019 model include LED lighting and an ABS-equipped disc brake on the C125's front end.

Rolling on 17-inch wheels, the not-quite step-through machine employs a conventional footpeg set-up as well as offering leg protection via the front narrow fairings. Its 3.7lt underseat fuel tank is accessed via a button underneath the left side of the seat, while a rear rack makes up for the luggage capacity otherwise found underneath the perch on a modern scooter.
Suspension duties are looked after by a 26mm telescopic fork up front matched to a pair of shocks at the rear, with 100mm and 84mm of travel respectively.
According to Honda, the latest version of its legendary Super Cub is proving enormously popular, so would-be owners are encouraged to get in early.
