Suzuki is scheduled to unveil its updated GSX-R600 in Cologne, Germany on October 5, and we’re tipping the local arm of the Japanese manufacturer will follow suit only hours later in Melbourne.
We’re not 100 percent certain, but there is a precedent for our assumption. Back in early October, 2008, Suzuki did the same thing when the GSX-R1000K9 was unveiled in Paris, followed a short time later by a media presentation Down Under -- with one of its all-new 167kg (dry) flagships air-freighted in especially for the occasion.
What came to light on the K9 bike was imposing, with all the key indicators more impressive than the outgoing GSX-R1000K8.
So what can we expect with the updated GSX-R600? Suzuki has already released a couple of sketches and, if the drawings are to be believed, the ram-air intakes have doubled in number from two to four, vertically stacked either side of the headlight instead of underneath it.
Speaking of the headlight, it also looks to have taken inspiration from the GSX-R1000.
And there is no doubt the key indicators (power and weight) will go to another level. But just how much remains to be seen.
The Bikesales Network will be attending the Suzuki launch in Melbourne this evening, and be running a full report tomorrow (October 6).
