New frame for Yamaha's YZF450R

The New Year is taking shape nicely for reigning Australian ATV champion Ryan Lancaster, who is set to upgrade to Yamaha's updated YFZ450R for his attempt at back-to-back national titles.
There are a number of changes on the 2009 model, including a new and lightweight cast aluminium and steel chassis, increased wheel travel, longer suspension, reshaped ports, a 220mm 'wave' disc, modified valve timing, new crankshaft, new camshaft, and fuel-injection now metered by a 32-bit ECU.
With the dry-sump engine and shallower crankcase, Yamaha also claims the centre of gravity has been lowered for even sharper handling.
There is also a new exhaust for more low and mid-range drive, and the five-speed gearbox now has taller ratios. The engine, which uses the cylinder head and cylinder from Yamaha's YZ450F motocrosser, now also has less vibration. The YZF450R has a 42mm Keihin throttle body.
Wet weight is 184kg, and colours for the $13,999 ATV are Team Yamaha blue/white and white/red.
