New entity to represent off-road vehicle users

An independent lobbying organisation, with discussions to increase recreational riding opportunities in various regions having already begun

Polaris Australia and BRP Australia have announced the establishment of the Australasian Off Road Vehicle Association (AORVA), a new legal entity with a national focus on fostering the healthy growth of ATV and side-by-side vehicle (SSV) recreation throughout Australasia.

AORVA will be an independent and not-for-profit organisation which will lobby all levels of government to overcome current limitations around land access for recreational riders, with the goal of achieving legislative change to allow the same recreational access for ATVs and side-by-sides which is currently afforded to trail bikes and 4WDs in allocated national parks and state forests.

Work to increase recreational riding opportunities in various regions and areas has already begun.

The key mission of AORVA is to promote the safe and responsible use of ATVs and SSV vehicles and to collaborate with local and state agencies to gain fair access for users, while also promoting the significant benefits of outdoor recreation.

Ultimately, AORVA seeks to become the voice of off-road vehicle users across Australasia and to provide a structured, safe and enjoyable riding experience for its members.

Benefits of membership include access to AORVA ride locations map, code of conduct and access privileges, email newsletters and event calendar updates and AORVA member website login, with insurance also slated to be included in the membership package in future.

"Can-Am has outstanding recreational products, so we are obviously very supportive of AORVA's formation because so many of our customers miss out on recreational opportunities in Australia just because they have never had a coordinated voice," said General Manager of BRP Australia, Gregoire Dupont.

These sentiments were also echoed by Managing Director of Polaris Australia, Peter Alexander.

"It's all about providing riding opportunities for our customers. Our customers will love the creation of AORVA as it strives to create responsible riding opportunities all over Australia and the chance for them to enjoy all the benefits of their products in the most structured and safest way possible," he said.

As a special introductory offer, AORVA is offering free membership to ATV and SSV users until 31st December, 2015.
