New colours, options for 2021 BMW range

The 2021 BMW Motorrad range has been given an update with a number of colours and optional extras added to to the equipment list.

The updated colours and options cover ten BMW models across the range. The R 1250 R, R 1250 RS, S 1000 RR, and S 1000 XR have been updated with extensive optional extras, while the F 900 R and F 900 XR both receive minor updates to the Driving Modes Pro option.

BMW has also added standard safety equipment to the K 1600 range, including reversing aid, adaptive turning light, tyre pressure control and daylight running lights.

Several of the updated models will benefit from Option 719 equipment. Option 719 is BMW’s heritage-inspired line of premium optional equipment.

The full list of updates and options will be available to customers from October 2020, with some components arriving by September 2020.

While each optional update comes at an additional cost, there is no confirmation yet on whether the base price of each model will rise for 2021. However it is expected there will be a slight increase.

The updates reinforce BMW Motorrad’s culture of customisation and personalisation. Each model starts as a base package, with a wide range of accessories, options and colours available.

“These comprehensive updates go well beyond simply offering a new colour or two,” said BMW Motorrad Australia GM Andreas Lundgren in a statement. “They will provide whole new looks and even greater breadth of ability, which options such as a USB charging port, and M Endurance chain for the S 1000 RR.”

A notable absentee from the list of updated models is the R 1250 GS and its Adventure counterpart. While it is known that both bikes will receive the ‘40 Years of GS’ livery, it is unclear what other updates or options will be available for those models. BMW told bikesales to ‘watch this space’, with a separate release expected at later date.

Here is an overview of the new colours and options for the 2021 BMW Motorrad range:

BMW S 1000 RR

• New ‘Black Storm’ colour scheme
• Changeover to EU-5
• New optional sports silencer
• New optional M titanium exhaust system
• New optional M milled parts package
• New optional USB charging point
• New optional M Endurance chain

BMW S 1000 XR

• New Style Sport package with Light White/Racing Blue/Racing Red colour scheme, titanium sports silencer, M endurance chain, sport windshield and additional Core screen with lap timer
• Tank cover and card pocket in motorcycle colour
• Expanded touring package with USB charging port, luggage rack with integrated holder for 30l and 49l top case
• New optional M milled parts package
• Titanium sports silencer, M endurance chain, USB charging point and luggage rack all now available as individual options

BMW R 1250 RS

• New Style Sport package with Austin Yellow and matte black frame colour scheme
• Changeover to EU-5
• Driving Modes Pro option now includes engine drag torque control and Core Screen Sport
• New optional Option 719 milled parts packages
• Sports silencer replaces previous HP rear silencer

BMW R 1250 R

• Style Exclusive package with Mineral Grey colour scheme
• Style HP package renamed Style Sport
• Changeover to EU-5
• Driving Modes Pro option now includes engine drag torque control and Core Screen Sport
• New optional Option 719 milled parts packages
• Sports silencer replaces previous HP rear silencer
• M lightweight battery replaces previous HP battery

BMW K 1600 GT

• New Option 719 Mineral White colour scheme
• Frame and engine in black for all colour versions
• Reversing aid and adaptive turning light now standard
• Tyre pressure control RDC and daylight running lights now standard
• Tour package now includes LED auxiliary headlights and engine protection bars

BMW K 1600 GTL

• New Manhattan, Style Elegance and Option 719 Mineral White colour schemes
• Reversing aid and adaptive turning light now standard
• Tyre pressure control RDC and daylight running lights now standard
• Comfort package now include engine protection bars

BMW K 1600 B

• New Mars Red colour scheme
• Reversing aid and adaptive turning light now standard
• Tyre pressure control RDC and daylight running lights now standard

• Touring package now includes LED auxiliary headlights, audio system, engine protection bars and running boards
