As the Bikesales Network first reported last September, the 2010 version of the Honda Fireblade amounts to only a slight variation on the 2009 theme, with the main interest in the three new liveries: silver metallic/pearl fire orange, graphite black/victory red and graphic black/pearl sunbeam white.
The 2010 model, which is now on sale at $17,990, also sports a larger diameter flywheel for more inertia and smoother performance, and a new aluminium muffler cover, mainly in deference to styling hues. There's also a redesigned rego plate which can be jettisoned a lot faster than the old one for outings such as track days.
For all intents and purposes though, the 2010 CBR1000RR (the 19th year of Fireblade production) remains the same machine as the 2008 model, when it managed to win the prestigious International Bike of the Year award, voted on by 13 magazines from around the globe.
Eight of the magazines put the Fireblade in their top three, with many commentators lauding it in the same breath as other classic sports bikes such as the Ducati 916 and Honda RC30.
The ABS version of the 2010 model retails for $18,9090, available in graphite black only.
