New 'Busa on sale

Suzuki's barnstorming bruiser now available in two new colour schemes

Suzuki Australia has announced its 2017 Hayabusa is now on sale at Suzuki dealerships around the country.

While the model remains mechanically unchanged from its predecessor, it is now available in two new colour schemes: Glass Sparkle Black and Pearl Blue, and plain Glass Sparkle Black.

The Hayabusa caused a sensation among the go-fast set when it was introduced in 1999. Built by Suzuki as a riposte to Honda's CBR1100XX Super Blackbird, the GSX1300R Hayabusa of the day could attain a top speed in excess of 300km/h.

The term 'Hayabusa' stems from the Japanese name for the peregrine falcon, the world's fastest bird that can achieve a similar speed in a vertical dive. They are also said to primarily eat other birds – including the blackbird!

It's a testament to Suzuki's design that the Hayabusa has changed relatively little over the years since. Having said that, in recent years the model has received updates in the form of ABS brakes and Suzuki's Drive Mode Selector (S-DMS), the latter giving riders the choice of three different ride modes to best suit the prevailing conditions.

The 2017 Suzuki Hayabusa is available now at $20,790 ride away – see your nearest Suzuki dealer for more information.
