Honda has confirmed the updated 2025 CRF motocross range will hit Australian shores in late 2024, but pricing is yet to be announced.
Both the Honda CRF250R and CRF450R models have received extensive updates, as has the CRF450RWE (Works Edition).
And, for the first time ever, Honda has also added a CRF250RWE (Works Edition) to complement the 450 version.
The news of the new CRF models comes as Australian's Jett and Hunter Lawrence completed a historic 1-2 victory at the AMA Pro Motocross opener in California.
Unlike most motocross releases, where a manufacturer will focus on just the 250 or 450 model in any given year, Honda has opted to update both platforms for 2025.
Both bikes get an updated main frame that is constructed from 70 per cent new components, while the new subrame mounting point optimises lateral rigidity and reduces energy transmission from the rear of the bike to the front.
The rigidity of the steering stem, triple clamp, outer fork tubes, and front axel have all ben revised to match the frame updates, while the fork features new internals for a more consistent feel through the stroke and minimised harsh feedback.
There is also a new shock spring, reservoir, shaft, and oil seal to offer a consistent stroke feel to match the fork.
The linkage has also been updated to a one-piece structure, and it also features a new leverage ratio that “decreases pitching while improving bottoming resistance”.
The front brake caliper has also been updated.
A redesigned airbox offers better airflow in a bid to improve throttle control and top-end power, while new ECU maps offer smoother delivery while maintain strong torque and power throughout the rev range.
On the 250, increased crank rigidity enhances midrange torque, while the revised muffler and header pipe is designed for improved acceleration.
The 450 also gets a revised header pipe design with the aim of more controllable power in low-to-mid range RPM.
Both bikes also get new bodywork and graphics, while rear-shock removal time has been “cut in half” by eliminating the need to remove the subframe.
The Works Edition models carry all the same changes but add swag of premium components including a Yoshimura exhaust, unique graphics, Kashima-coated outer fork tubes, a Hinson clutch basket and cover, DID rims, and dedicated ignition and injection mapping. And that is just the start of the list.
All four bikes are scheduled to arrive in the last quarter of 2024.
