Victory gave an insight into its 2012 model range and future plans when it welcomed Cory Ness to its Sydney superstore recently.
The American was on hand to reinforce Victory’s connection with Arlen Ness, a partnership than reaches back nearly a decade. With modified cycle parts and unique paint schemes, 2012 will again see three Ness-branded bikes as part of the line-up.
“We’re really pleased with how the 2012 bikes look,” said Ness, adding, “Victory is a brand that we share many values with, and we spend many hours in the saddle of the bikes. It’s great to see this all-American partnership continue to grow.”
Also growing is loyalty to the brand. The company recently took out top spot in the JDPower Customer Satisfaction survey, held across all motorcycle brands. This shows how far the company, owned by Polaris, has come in its 13-year existence. And it’s clear that Victory won’t be resting on its laurels.
The 2012 range is bolstered by fresh models and the addition of ABS on all touring models (previously a cost option). Spearheading the range is the High Ball. Like all Victory models, it’s powered by the company’s 106 cubic inch (1731cc) V-twin engine. With ape hanger bars, wire wheels and white-wall tyres, it captures the current trend towards ‘Bobber’ motorcycles and, by retailing for $20,000 ride-away, becomes the entry point to the entire range.
The Cross Country Tour sees long-distance cruiser meet load-lugger, the new model being equipped with a class-leading 245 litres of luggage space in the form of top box, hard panniers and even map storage in the leg guards. These guards also house part of Victory’s Comfort Control System – flaps that prevent or direct airflow, allowing the rider to control their environment. Other big news is the addition of an electronic reverse to the top-of-the-line Vision tourer, run from the bike’s starter motor.
With Polaris recently purchasing the Indian name (and rumoured to be in the market for a sports bike brand), it’s clear that Victory has the backing to expand and evolve in the future.
