National women's supercross title
Will be on the program at the 2013 Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix at Phillip IslandThe very first Women’s Supercross Australian National Cup will be held at Phillip Island on October 18-20 as part of the support class program for the 2013 Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix.
Two rounds will be held at Phillip Island, with each one consisting of two five-lap races and a seven-lap race.
X-Games Silver medallist, 18-year-old Kawasaki rider Meghan Rutledge (pictured), said it was exciting see women getting their own supercross championship in Australia.
“This is fantastic! I was absolutely shocked but extremely pleased when I heard about the event as I never expected it to happen in Australia. It is such a huge step forward for female racing,” Rutledge said.
“The concept has been really well thought out with plenty of track time on offer. I will definitely be there and will do everything I can to promote the Women’s Supercross Australian National Cup."
