MX TV hits free-to-air

Now in its sixth season, the Honda-backed TV show MXTV is returning to the airwaves with a limited run on free-to-air television, on NBN Nine in New South Wales and Queensland.

It's a big step for the show that started five years ago in the back of a garage in suburban Campbellfield in Victoria.

Host and executive producer Brendan Bell (pictured) was understandably stoked about the new deal.

"It's a huge step for us to be on free to air television. Every year we've committed to improving the show in one way or another and this is just more step toward our goal.

"The NBN 9 deal will get us into the main race and that's where the show, and the sport needs to be. Our ratings have always been great, but this will really put us on the map."

In fact, Bell and his production company Kickstart Media have big plans for the show in coming years with eyes to a much wider audience.

"We've come a long way in five years, but we have a very clear picture of where we want the show, and the sport to be in the next few years. The free to air television deal keeps us on track with that plan, but we've really only just begun."

MXTV is set to air on NBN Nine, Foxtel and Austar Digital and C31 nationally from July 2006. See www.mxtv.com.au.
