Multiple Australian motocross champion and four-time winner of the legendary Mr Motocross title, Stephen Gall, is currently working on the latest instalment of the Mad Max franchise, which is being filmed under a veil of secrecy in Namibia.
Gall is the motorcycle assistant stunt coordinator for Mad Max: Fury Road, which stars Hollywood A-lister Charlize Theron (as a woman called Furiosa) as well as British duo Tom Hardy (who will play the leading character Max Rockatansky) and Nicholas Hoult.
Apparently, the clean-cut Gall is maintaining an unkempt look for the film to blend into his 'harsh' surroundings.
Mad Max: Fury Road, with George Miller at the helm once again, was originally going to be filmed in Broken Hill, starting in late 2010, but high levels of rain and a corresponding desert bloom detracted from the post-apocalyptic ‘feeling’ that was required – hence the move to Namibia with a big boost in budget to boot.
Gall is one of the most versatile motorcycle riders Australia has seen, and in additon to his motocross successes he's also won Australian sidecar speedway and dirt track titles, was a two-time Finke Desert Race winner, and could road race at the highest level. He was also a top-flight sprint car driver for some time.
