Boutique Italian brand MV Agusta has pulled the covers off its new Brutale RR and Dragster RR range via an online media launch.
The 2021 MV Agusta Brutale RR and 2021 MV Agusta Dragster RR now boast an updated electronics platform, chassis and suspension revisions, and engine tweaks that allow the models to achieve Euro5 emissions compliance without sacrificing output.
The bikes now have a new six-axis IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit), Continental MK100 Cornering ABS (with improved low-speed ABS performance), and new engine management algorithms that, according to MV Agusta, combine to deliver a smoother, more intuitive ride, with rider assistance systems spanning launch control, wheelie control, eight-level traction control and electronic cruise control.
The MV Ride app syncs with an integrated GPS sensor and Bluetooth module to provide audio streaming, call management and turn-by-turn navigation, with directions displayed on a new 5.5-inch TFT display.
The app also allows the rider to tune the bike across a range of parameters, record a wealth of trip data and then share that data (and bike settings) with others.
A new, more refined 'EAS 3.0' bi-directional quick-shifter is said to offer even faster, smoother gear shifts, while the handlebar controls are new.

The 798cc, 12-valve, DOHC in-line three-cylinder engine, with signature counter-rotating crankshaft, now meets Euro5 emissions compliance and features a number of updates, including new sintered valve guides, DLC-coated tappets, a new exhaust system and an improved SCS (Smart Clutch System), which delivers auto (i.e. clutchless) gear shifts.
MV Agusta says the combined revisions allow the bikes to meet Euro5 while delivering smoother power and an improved spread of torque, without curtailing output.
To that end, the 2021 MV Agusta Brutale RR and Dragster RR produce 140hp (103kW) at 12,300rpm and 87Nm at 10,250rpm, in packages that each weigh a svelte 175kg (dry).
The chassis now features redesigned side frame plates to improve torsional and longitudinal rigidity while the suspension settings have been revised front and rear, with the rear Sachs monoshock now featuring a new linkage arrangement.
There's also a new adjustable steering damper on the Brutale RR and new memory foam in the seat for greater comfort.
The performance-focused 2021 MV Agusta Dragster RR – with its distinctive shorter tail section, chopped front guard, retracting pillion pegs and wire-spoked rims – receives the same electronics, engine and chassis updates, along with a new rear tyre.
The bike is now shod with a Pirelli Diablo Rosso III in a 200/55ZR17 sizing, the rounder profile affording even more nimble handling.
The 2021 MV Agusta Brutale RR will be available in two models: the Brutale RR and Brutale RR SCS – and is priced in Europe from Euro 17,000 (approx. $A26,600). Two colour options are available: Carbon Black Metallic/Avio Grey Metallic, and Shock Pearl Red/Avio Grey.
The 2021 MV Agusta Dragster RR will be available in three models: the Dragster RR, the Dragster RR SCS, and Dragster RR SCS RC, the latter a high-end 'Reparto Corse' (racing division) variant. Pricing in Europe starts from Euro 20,000 (approximately $A31,300), while colour options include Matt Magnum Silver/Matt Metallic Dark Grey and Matt Magnum Avio Grey/Matt Metallic Dark Grey.
According to Brian Gillen, MV Agusta & CRC R&D Director, the new Brutale RR and Dragster RR range represents a thorough update that will only broaden their appeal.
