The machine voted most beautiful at the 2012 EICMA motorcycle show in Milan, the MV Agusta Rivale 800, will go on sale in Australia in January, 2014 for $19,990 rideaway. Liveries will be red/silver or black/red.
The Rivale is a new market segment for the Italian company, and function is bordering on the supermoto side of things, so we expect that bikes like the Ducati Hypermotard will be in its sights.
There’s a trellis frame, and the engine is the bored-out version of the company’s 675cc triple with three maps and a custom default. There’s 125hp at 11,600rpm and 81Nm at 8600rpm. The throttle is full ride by wire.
The dashboard has been designed specifically for the Rivale 800 and features a digital, multi-function display. It’s compact, “yet remains perfectly legible while offering maximum availability of information and parameters”.
The pair of front 320mm diameter discs are gripped by twin four-piston Brembo radial calipers. The rear is a 220mm diameter disc mated to a twin-piston caliper. Suspension is Marzocchi and Sachs.
Styling is Ducati Diavel-ish at the rear, and weight is 170kg.
