The MV Agusta vacuum has been filled in Australia, with the F4 1000 RR and Brutale 1090 now available at selected dealers around the country.
And the man behind the revival is James Deutsher, who has set up a Melbourne-based company to be the sole Australian importer for MV Agusta. Deutsher has also appointed long-time industry player Kevin Beale to manage the operation.
“Our business plan is based solely on MV Agusta and nothing else,” said Deutsher at yesterday’s Australian media launch. “There is a long-term business plan in place, and I am confident we have got the structures in place to really make this work.
“At the moment demand is outstripping supply, and we’re delighted with the initial response.”
Seven dealers have already been appointed to see MVs in Australia (see full list below), and Deutsher forecasts that will grow to about 10 or 11 in 18 months.
The new Australian arm of MV Agusta has also been able to broker a deal to drop the retail price of spare parts by an average of 35 percent, with “an increased supply rate” a vital piece of the jigsaw.
The F4 1000 and Brutale 1090 RR will retail for $25, 800 and $20,800 respectively, while the Brutale 1078 RR is coming in a real bargain -- $17,800. We don’t expect many will remain on dealer floors at that price.
The F4 1000 was heavily updated for the 2010 model year (not in time to see the light of day with the previous Australian MV importer), and features lighter chassis and bodywork, a new 998cc four-cylinder in-line engine which includes variable length intake trumpets, a new electronic injection system, and an eight-level traction control system.
Dry weight was also reduced to 192.5kg, a 10kg saving on the previous model.
And we’re told the heat dissipation properties on the new F4 1000 are much improved – a blessing for both the rider and engine. And the suspension has been heavily revised with different shim stacks and valving.
The Bikesales Network plans to road test both the F41000 and Brutale 1090RR in coming months.
Other models expected to go on sale in the next 12 months include the F4 1000 RR, Brutale 920
and three-cylinder F3 supersport machine.
