MV Agusta Dragster RR SCS America unveiled

Boutique manufacturer MV Agusta has revealed the latest in its long line of ‘America’ special editions, with the 2023 MV Agusta Dragster RR SCS America going on sale across North America on July 11.

But with a limited production run of just 300 units and only being offered in North America, the exotic streetfighter is sure to tug at the heartstrings of American patriots and will surely sell out rapidly.

MV Agusta says its America models celebrate the importance of this specific market and can trace their history back to the MV Agusta 750S of 1973. The America tag has been applied to several models over the years since, including the 2004 MV Agusta Brutale 750 America, the 2012 MV Agusta Brutale 1090 RR America, the 2017 MV Agusta Brutale 800 RR America, and the 2018 MV Agusta Dragster 800 RR America.

Now the theme continues, with the 2023 MV Agusta Dragster RR SCS America boasting a stunning red, white and blue paint scheme, unique numbering laser-engraved on the top yoke, and a dedicated seat with hand-stitched ‘America Special Edition’ wording.

Prominent features include a carbonfibre wheel cover and a special parts kit comprising a transparent SCS clutch cover, a motorcycle cover, and a certificate of authenticity. An Akrapovic titanium sports exhaust and ECU, which together push peak power to 148hp at 12,800rpm, are also available.

The SCS 3.0 clutch, developed in collaboration with Rekluse, does away with the need for a clutch lever, while the bike also sports a ride-by-wire throttle and a six-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU) to deliver a suite of advanced safety features.

Then there’s the high-spec Brembo braking system, the adjustable steering damper, and an advanced 5.5-inch TFT instrument display, with Bluetooth connectivity and accompanying MV Ride app.

At its shrieking heart lies a 798cc inline triple, pumping out 140hp (103kW) at 12,300rpm and 87Nm at 10,250rpm, in a package weighing in at just 175kg dry. MV Agusta claims the model can accelerate from zero to 100km/h in just 3.55sec, or from zero to 200km/h in 10.1sec.

And pricing? The 2023 MV Agusta Dragster RR SCS America starts from $US28,247 (approximately $A42,000).

Alas, while the 2023 MV Agusta Dragster RR SCS America isn’t coming our way, it is at least another example of MV’s art on wheels we can admire from afar…
