Ducati has announced four separate versions of its new superbike-powered Multistrada 1200, which is expected to go on sale from May next year.
Pricing starts at $22,990 for the Multistrada 1200, and then rises for the ABS model ($24,490) and range-topping 1200 S ($29,990), which is available in two variants - Sport and Touring.
All the bikes feature three different engine maps and Ducati Traction Control, while the 1200 S has Ohlins suspension, Ducati Electronic Suspension (DES.
The S Sport features carbon-fibre front air intakes, cam-belt covers, rear hugger and lateral air extractors, and the S Touring has panniers, a centrestand and heated hand grips.
The Multistrada 1200 S is available in black, red or white, over a racing grey frame with black wheels. Deliveries will commence in May.
The standard Multistrada 1200 and 1200 ABS versions are available in red or white, over a Racing Grey frame with black wheels. Deliveries will commence in June 2010.
The bikes are powered by a 150hp (110kW) version of the superbike-derived Testastretta 11 engine, and the dry weight of the Multistrada 1200 is 189kg.
"The Multistrada 1200 is an absolute dream motorcycle that's four bikes in one - it's a sportsbike, a long distance tourer, urban or enduro, now all separated by just one click of a button," says Warren Lee, the CEO of NF Importers.
"With a dry weight of just 189kg, Multistrada 1200 is also lighter than any other large capacity sport-touring, touring or road-enduro bike currently available. Features such as "keyless" starting and a comprehensive trip-computer further enhance its functionality."
Meanwhile, in other Ducati news, the marque has strengthened its longstanding partnership with Pirelli tyres, with all models to be fitted with the rubber from January 1 next year.
Finally, the sixth edition of World Ducati Week (WDW) will be held from June 10-13 in 2010, with the Italian circuit of Misano playing host to proceedings. As well as the congregation of Ducatisi, WDW will feature shows; track tests; special appearances by riders and stuntmen; bike tours; visits to the Ducati museum and factory; historic bike exhibitions; and conferences.
