There will be an abbreviated Australian presence in the next two rounds of the Superbike World Championship at Misano (June 21) and Donington (June 28), with both Brendan Roberts and Karl Muggeridge derailed by injury.
Roberts, who rides for Guandalini Ducati, has already missed the last two rounds after crashing badly at Monza and is still not 100 percent fit.
To make matters worse, Roberts has also developed a quad muscle inflammation in his leg. Despite undergoing a series of lengthy physiotherapy sessions, his muscular tone is still insufficient and for this reason Roberts and the team have decided to delay his return to racing.
His place will continue to be taken by Spaniard Gregorio Lavilla.
Meanwhile, Italian Alex Polita will replace Muggeridge at Celani Suzuki after the Swiss-based Gold Coast rider cracked vertebrae at the last round in America.
A reappraisal of Muggeridge's condition will be made in early July.
With Roberts and Muggeridge convalescing, Troy Corser (BMW) and Broc Parkes (Kawasaki) will be left to fly the Aussie flag in Italy and England, but there will be a full complement in supersport: Honda quartet Andrew Pitt, Anthony West, Mark Aitchison and Russell Holland, and Triumph's Garry McCoy.
