MRAA requests removal of "killer" signs

The Motorcycle Riders Association of Australia has requested VicRoads to consider removing the metal chevron signs at roundabouts following the recent death of a rider at Braeside

Dale Maggs, MRAA President, said, "Although VicRoads has agreed to examine alternative materials for these signs, the possibility of further deaths and serious injuries will remain as long as they are in place."

Maggs added that three deaths in a relatively short period have demonstrated the danger that these signs post to riders. "While we are very pleased that VicRoads is examining an alternative to these killer signs, we are concerned that further deaths may occur before they can be replaced" said Mr Maggs.
