From the MRA (Vic): The Australian Red Cross Blood Service's Summer Blood Challenge will have a roaring start with more than one hundred motorcycle riders showing their support from December onwards.
The President of Motorcycle Riders' Association Australia Dale Maggs says donating blood should be part of everyday life and at 8.30am on Sunday, 2 Decembe,r the group will ride across the West Gate Bridge to Ballarat to help spread the important message of giving blood during the Summer Blood Challenge.
The impressive contingent will include members from the Harley Owners Group and The Australian Scooters' Association which features classic Vespas and Hondas. They will head to Ballarat's Sovereign Hill to commemorate the 154th Anniversary of the Eureka Stockade.
The MRAA has supported the Summer Blood Challenge for almost 30 years and Dale says he can't stress enough how a single blood donation can help to save at least three lives.
ARCBS Operations Manager Victoria Nigel Fidgeon said "Every single day someone needs blood or blood products.
"Through the support of more than half a million voluntary, non remunerated blood donors, the ARCBS ensures that hospitals have the blood and blood products required to treat people in need." he said.
