Piaggio has just launched a new version of the MP3 locally, featuring a 400cc powerplant in place fo the original 250.
It shares the same platform as the 250, but there are some detail differences, such as a large back wheel diameter (up from 12 inches to 14) and a substantial 60mm boost to the wheelbase (now 1550mm).
The engine is the firm's "Master" unit, which is liquid-cooled, meets Euro 3 emission guidelines, and claims 25kW (33.5hp) at 7500rpm and 38Nm of torque at 5500. Claimed weight is 244 kilos and max speed is listed as 142km/h.
Price is $11,990. There are now three variations on the distinctive three-wheeler theme: the 250 and 400, plus the 500 Fuoco from Gilera.
